The first container produced by Strumet was the UIC mesh pallet (German: Gitterbox), compliant with the UIC 435-3 and DIN 15155 standards. A versatile, durable and lightweight container with a high load capacity. It is readily used by various industries due to its interchangeability, among other things. We still offer this container. Notwithstanding its versatility, it has not always been optimal for all customers, which is why it has been the basis for many derivative designs with a reduced height, floor and walls lined with sheet metal or finer mesh, as well as collapsible versions to save on the transport of empty containers.
Strumet readily undertakes the design of any mesh container. Regardless of whether it needs to be rigid or collapsible. The dimensions of the containers can be varied. We will adapt the structure to the required load capacity so that the container is durable yet as light as possible. We mainly use welded meshes with a mesh size of 50 x 50 mm, but they can also be woven meshes and the mesh size can be anything from 15 mm upwards. The containers can be powder-coated, hot-dip galvanised or electrogalvanised.
Use of gitterboxes
The main advantage of steel containers, including gitterboxes, is that they are stackable. This allows you to make efficient use of storage space and transport vehicles.
