Airbag containers

Containers for hazardous materials such as airbags or pyrotechnic seat belt pretensioners fall into the category of combined packaging. They consist of outer packaging – a solid steel box pallet – and inner packaging, which can be made of various materials. These may be vacuum-extruded trays made of materials such as ABS, PE, or PP, or shapes made of foamed polymer – most often EPP.

Custom-made airbag containers

The inner packaging is designed to separate and protect the airbag modules, which are often integrated with delicate vehicle interior components, such as the steering wheel cushion. The outer packaging, in turn, allows for forklift transport and stacking. It also protects the contents from being crushed in the event of an accident and prevents the ejection of explosive contents in the event of a fire.

As a manufacturer of hazardous materials containers, Strumet is supervised by the COBRO Packaging Research Institute, with whom we have signed an agreement. We also employ a certified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA).
